The 1st and 2nd International Symposium of Ch'ing Archives conferences were held at the National Palace Museum, Taipei in 2001 and 2005. In these two conferences, more then 300 participants attended respectively with ardent. Especially in the 2nd symposium, the discussions, such as the name standards for the archives; the management of archives; the publishing and the matters of its disclose application to the public, etc., were enthusiastically discussed by all scholars who attend the conference. And was suggested to hold another conference for the further and deeper discussions on these issues with other related institutions, thus, to build a cooperative platform to provide the opportunity for consulting further theme. Therefore, National Palace Museum(NPM), invites Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica(IHP) and Content Development Division of National Digital Archives program Taiwan, together to host the 3rd International Symposium of Ch'ing Archives-The Management of Ch'ing Archives and Interarchival Cooperation.

There are 6 topics set for the 3rd symposium as follows:

  • The principle describing rules for Ch'ing Archives;
  • The management and cooperation of archives for Ch'ing central government;
  • The management and cooperation of archives for Ch'ing local government;
  • The management and cooperation of map archives of Ch'ing;
  • The repair of Ch'ing archives and its cooperation;
  • The production of digital database of Ch'ing archives and its Interarchival cooperation.
As regards the purpose of the 3rd symposium, it is designed to enhance the collective recording standards of Ch'ing archives, and also to provide a platform for discuss the relate issues regard to the management, repair, digitization and inter-archival cooperation of Ch'ing archives. Therefore the museum invited the scholars with practical experiences in archival management, especially the specialists working at Ch'ing archives in mainland China and Taiwan. During the course of the Symposium, we hope a collaborative platform is built up through the discussing, sharing and exchanges of the information.
